FORMER NBA STAR MUGGSY BOGUES CREATES A NEW NONPROFIT FUNDRAISER AND YOUTH SPORTS EVENT

The Inaugural Muggsy Bogues Middle School Basketball Tournament will fuel the local foundation’s mission and bring together youth basketball teams within the community

The Muggsy Bogues Family Foundation (MBFF) announced a new fundraiser, The Inaugural Muggsy Bogues Middle School Basketball Tournament, which will be held on Feb. 4 at 8 a.m. at Carolina Courts in Indian Trail, North Carolina.

“This basketball tournament will give girls’ and boys’ middle school basketball teams the opportunity to get further exposure with the game and strive to be the last team standing,” said Muggsy Bogues, Founder and President of the MBFF. “We have made the annual tournament a standing fundraiser of the MBFF to help increase our outreach to underserved members of our community.”

This new fundraiser will be filled with fun and competition while raising funds for a great cause. Middle school teams will come together to wrap up their basketball season, get involved in their community by representing their school, and give back to the community.

Registration is open to public and private schools in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties. There are girls and boys divisions with 32 teams total. Two games are guaranteed for each team, and the winners will advance to the championship game to receive a trophy to display at their school.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the MBFF’s initiatives to improve the lives of those in need in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area including the Labor of Love food distribution events and the Muggsy Bogues Workforce Development Scholarship Program.
