BASKETBALL fans rejoice: NBA star and long-time fan favourite Muggsy Bogues is coming to Ringwood. That’s right, Ringwood. The diminutive point guard is making the long trek from the US for a one-night-only talk show at the Karralyka Theatre on October 13. Bogues, 47, is making the trip specifically for this event, and his visit is sure to have hoop-heads in a spin. The event, titled “Muggsy: The Tyrone Bogues Story”, will be hosted by National Basketball League hall-of-famer and broadcaster Steve Carfino and will cover Bogues’ journey to and through the professional ranks. His 10-year spell with the Charlotte Hornets in the mid-90s coincided with basketball’s surging popularity throughout Australia, and he found cross-over appeal as a cast member in the Michael Jordan movie, Space Jam. Bogues said he and his wife were looking forward to returning to Australia, which is why he signed on for the show. The man behind the event is Croydon’s Ryan Sinclair, a basketball tragic from way back.
